Better at Home is the only UK care provider using the Ashby Memory Method.  The Ashby Memory Method is a brain fitness program of week-by-week memory exercise workbooks scientifically designed to improve brain functioning for adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, stroke and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI).

Dementia | The Problem - Memory Loss Erodes Your Freedom

As your memory is more affected you will lose your ability to keep appointments, use the telephone, dress, groom or even get something to eat.

The ability to continue performing Activities of Daily Living is vital to your freedom so it is important to fight back the symptoms of memory loss as soon as possible.

Dementia | The Solution - A Brain Fitness Program Designed for You!

The Ashby Memory Method (AMM) program treats Alzheimer's disease as a slowly developing brain injury.  It is based on the work of the late Dr. Mira Ashby MD who received the Order of Canada for her work with the brain injured. The main goal is to improve the quality of life for the participant and their family by resisting the symptoms of the disease.

The AMM program integrates the participant's interests so the sessions are relevant and enjoyable.  AMM certified facilitators are trained on the progression of memory loss and how to maximize the results of the AMM program.

A series of workbooks that are scientifically designed to improve memory for adults with memory loss are used.

  • Twice a week for an hour a certified facilitator sits down one-on-one with a participant.
  • Not a medication, so no adverse side effects.
  • Not on a computer, so there is not software to learn.
  • Program continues until the participant chooses to stop
