Care Work | Pre-employment Checks

Before starting any care work, Better at Home carries out a number of pre-employment checks on all of our care staff including:

Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Check

We carry out an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and POVA First (Protection of Vulnerable Adults) check on all of our Home Carers and Live in Carers.

The cost of these checks are £55 and we ask the Home Carer to pay for this.  This amount is reimbursed to the Home Carer or Live in Carer once they have successfully completed their 3 month probationary period.

To complete a CRB we need to see various proofs of identity which we ask job applicants to bring to their interview.

Job Employment References

Job applicants must be able to provide us with details of 3 referees, one of whom must be their last employer.

Job Offers

All of our job offers are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks including: POVA First, enhanced criminal records bureau (CRB) check and satisfactory references.
