Live in Care Work | Become a Live in Carer

The role of a live in carer can be very varied as each client has different physical and emotional needs.  It can also be very rewarding as the carer is able to offer a one to one bespoke service which enables the client to have choices about their daily routine and to remain living independently in their own home.  It also allows them to relax and take their time about activities. Often a live in carer will notice an improvement in the client’s well being which in turn gives them a sense of job satisfaction.

Typically, some of our clients need help with personal care as they may have problems with their joints or mobility.  They may also suffer from incontinence and require help with toileting.  Some suffer from dementia or Parkinson’s disease.  Therefore a live in carer requires patience, empathy, maturity, confidence and the ability to put someone else first. As many of our clients have problems with their hearing and sight, a live in carer also needs to have excellent spoken English.

Often a live in carer will accompany the client out on trips such as to the shops or a local coffee house.  They can also enable them to pursue their favourite hobbies such as gardening by helping them with planting.  It is a very varied and responsible role and allows the live in carer to make a really positive impact on another person’s quality of life.  Therefore, it can be very challenging but also very rewarding.
